Frequently Asked Questions
Who is eligible?
The call for entries extends to the entire state, open to members and non-members, individuals, and businesses. The only requirement - you must be a resident of New York. Entries may be submitted by any company or individual involved in the creation or production of the work.
How much does each entry cost?
It's $25 per piece if you're a member of AIGA, Non-members pay $50. Entries postmarked after 2/17/12 will not be accepted.
What if I want to submit something I designed several years ago?
Entries must have been created or placed between January 1, 2009 and December, 2011
What if I'm not sure which category my work belongs in?
There are no categories, all communication designs are welcome.
What are the file requirements for entries?
All entries should be accompanied by a high resolution digital file. Please provide ONE image for each entry submitted on CD/DVD. 300 dpi Photoshop .jpeg files are acceptable. Files should be 8 inches wide and RGB.
What do I need to mail?
Print two forms for all entries; include one form with your check payment and tape the other form to the back of your mounted work. Please mount work to black foam core, cut to fit with a two-inch margin. Generally, the size of the board should not exceed 20" x 30". Or add $10's per entry and we'll mount your work for you!
You are welcome to include an unmounted well protected entry for judging purposes, though this is not a requirement.

INTERACTIVE submit an 8.5"x11" color print of the homepage, pop-up banner, email, e-card, app., ect., and a CD/DVD of the entry. Follow mounting requirements above.

How many entry forms do I need to include with my entry?
Complete three Entry Forms for each entry:
1. Save one interactive .pdf file to your CD/DVD
2. Attach one copy to the back of the mounted entry
3. Include one with your full entry fee payment.

How will I find out if my work is chosen to be in the New York State of Design?
Accepted entrants into The New York State of Design exhibit and catalog will be notified in March. Some will receive special awards, all accepted entrants will receive the 2012 New York State of Design Catalog on us! The list of the jury's selections will be posted online Mid March.
